Ann M. Wilson has been serving as the Associate Director of Bands at Villa Rica High School (VRHS) in Villa Rica, Georgia for three years now. She plays a vital role in overseeing the middle and high school band operations, conducts the VRHS Symphonic Band and leads the VRHS Midnight Jazz Cats. Ms. Wilson is also a co-sponsor of the VRHS Tri-M Music Honor Society. Her ensembles have consistently received superior ratings at Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) performance evaluations. Recently, Ms. Wilson led the Villa Rica High School Trombone Sextet in a lobby performance at the 2023 GMEA In-Service Conference and assisted with the VRHS Symphonic Band performance 2024 GMEA In-Service Conference.
Ms. Wilson is a proud alumna of Sandy Creek High School in Tyrone, Georgia, and earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of West Georgia (UWG). During her tenure at UWG, she was an active member of the jazz department and performed as part of the UWG Marching Wolves, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, Jazz Combo, Brass Ensemble, and Wind Ensemble. Ms. Wilson continues to contribute to music as a member of the Cobb Wind Symphony under the direction of Dr. Alfred Watkins.
Aside from performing, Ms. Wilson actively serves as a trombone instructor, drum major clinician and adjudicator. She collaborates with composer Katahj Copley as a program annotator. Her professional affiliations include the Georgia Music Educators Association, National Association for Music Education, Jazz Education Network, and Kappa Kappa Psi. Ms. Wilson resides in Villa Rica, Georgia with her dog, Maisie.
