Charles Banks, Assistant Director (Percussion)
Charles Banks, teaches percussion and piano techniques and has done so since 2015. Originally from Virginia, he has a marching background at both the high school and collegiate level. Currently he is pursuing a Master in Music Performance, and has over 12 years of playing experience. He has marched with both Norfolk State University and Bethune Cookman University percussion sections. Both bands are known nationally and Bethune Cookman recently appeared on a Netflix special "Marching Orders."
Mr. Banks motto is, “the only limits there are in this life are the ones we put on ourselves.” He truly believes that hard work and ambition will always outweigh talent or natural born skill. He has worked with a wide range of students both young and adult students. Mr. Banks enjoys helping to develop young musician's skills to become confident and independent players. Mr. Banks hopes to one day teach at the collegiate level, and to become a published percussion composer for this generation. Mr. Banks has been a part of the FAME family since 2017, and has worked hard to set a strong foundation for the percussion student that are currently within the program and those soon to come. Mr. Banks will serve as the MMJ assistant director, and currently serves full time as band director at Factory Shoals Middle School in Douglasville, GA.
