Eric Hawkins, Artist-in-Residence in Horn
Eric C. Hawkins (b. 1991) is a professional French Horn player from the Atlanta area. He earned his Master’s degree in Horn Performance from Georgia State University in Atlanta, where he was most recently selected as a winner of the Brumby Concerto Competition for his performance of the Franz Strauss Op. 8 Concerto. Prior to beginning his graduate studies, Mr. Hawkins graduated Summa Cum Laude from Columbus State University, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance from the Schwob School of Music. During his time in Atlanta, he became a reputable free-lancing musician, performing with high-profile artists such as Hans Zimmer, Kansas, Chloë Agnew, and Katie Deal. Mr. Hawkins performs with numerous ensembles throughout each season, including the Atlanta Pops Orchestra, Serenbe Playhouse, the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, and the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra. Previous teachers include Kristen Hansen, Jason Eklund, Anna Dodd, and Brice Andrus. His own teaching studio stretches to regions such as Carrollton, Buckhead, Alpharetta, and Woodstock.
