Lebarron N. Mcwhorter, Director of Bands
Lebarron N. Mcwhorter is currently pursuing his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Instrumental Music Education and has served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for the Department of Music at Auburn University before coming to New Manchester High School. He has also served as Associate Director of Bands at Miles College in Fairfield, Alabama, Director of Bands at Jonesboro High School in Jonesboro, Georgia, and Director of Band at Jefferson Davis High School in Montgomery, Alabama.
Mcwhorter earned a Master of Music degree in Instrumental Conducting from Reinhardt University in Waleska, Georgia, a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama, and also has a Certificate in Advanced Graduate Studies in Instrumental Conducting from Messiah University in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Through facilitating student-focused learning and a consistent emphasis on fundamentals and leadership, Mcwhorter assisted his past students in earning consistent superior and excellent ratings in both concert and marching bands. Some of these achievements include performing in the Disney Magic Music Days Parade in Orlando, Florida, and the Kennesaw State University Concert Band Invitational in Kennesaw, Georgia. Mr. Mcwhorter has also conducted bands throughout the U.S and internationally in Spain as either guest conductor or clinician. Mcwhorter proudly served as a medical laboratory specialist and a euphonium player in the United States Army from 2002 to 2008. His previous assignments include the 161st Medical Battalion in Mobile, Alabama, and the 151st Army Band in Montgomery, Alabama. |
