Carolyn Johnston, Artist-in-Residence in Oboe
Carolyn Johnston is an oboist based in Atlanta, Georgia. She recently received an Artist Certificate from the Georgia State University School of Music where she was an Honor Recital Finalist. She also obtained her Bachelor of Music Degree from GSU where she studied with Dr. Lara Saville Dahl. She received her Masters in Music Performance at New York University Steinhardt where she studied with Bert Lucarelli. While attending NYU, Carolyn was selected for one of two Graduate Woodwind Awards for outstanding achievement and citizenship. Carolyn played for various ensembles while living in New York including the Nova Philharmonic, the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra, the Litha Symphony Orchestra, and performed at the United Nations, Symphony Space, the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, and the Brooklyn Museum.
Since moving back to Atlanta, Carolyn has played with the Macon Symphony Orchestra, Georgia Symphony Orchestra, Toccoa Symphony Orchestra, and has performed at The Kopleff Recital Hall, The Rialto Center for the Arts, the Marietta Performing Arts Center, and Eyedrum. She is actively freelancing and teaches privately in the Metro Atlanta area.
