"Hit Squad" Drum Line

​Auditions Requirements





ABOUT.
The "Hit Squad" is the driving force that moves the "MMJ" to the beat. The drum line for the "MMJ" is an ever evolving section of talented individuals. The "Hit Squad" performs with the band at games, parades, and other events. They also perform as a section at various functions both in and out of school.

The "Hit Squad" drum line is growing into a force to be reckoned with. Do you have what it takes to block up with the Squad? See you at auditions.

Audition Information


  • Auditions will take place in May 2025. 
  • An email with the audition date and time will be sent using the information entered into the above form.
  • All FAME band percussion students are required to audition every year regardless of grade level.
  • Percussion assignments will be given based on skill level and needs of the drumline.


REQUIREMENTS.
Potential drum line members must audition to gain placement on the line. This includes returning drum line members. Students will be scored on the following:
  • Basic percussion methods
  • Ability to march/move with and without equipment
  • Ability to learn by wrote
  • Ability to ready percussion charts
  • Discipline and demeanor

Potential drum line members will not be able to select their section position. Student placement will be based of the above scores, and performance of the 26 Standard American Drum Rudiments. The rudiments needed to qualify for each section are listed below.

All rudiments are to be played in open-closed-open format.

    • ​All 26 Standard Rudiments
  • ​Tenor Line
    • ​4, 5, 6,7, 11, 14, 20, 21
  • Bass Line
    • ​4, 5, 6,7, 11, 14, 20, 21​

Audition Dates & Important Information
2025 - 2026 Drumline auditions will take place in May. 
FILES.
Use the button below to navigate to the band forms needed or all new and returning member. The forms must be filled out and turned in on DAY ONE of auditions. Students will not be able to attend the auditions dates without it.
